ماحولیاتی تنقید (Eco-criticism) مطالعے کی ایک نئی صنف ہے۔ یہ مکالمہ یا بحث ادب (کلاسیکی اور جدید دونوں) اور طبعی قدرتی ماحول کے مابین تعلق کا مطالعہ ہے۔ ماحولیاتی تنقید کا مطالعہ ہمیں یہ بھی دکھاتا ہے کہ ادب کس طرح ماحول کے تحفظ اور بقا میں اپنا کردار ادا کرتا ہے۔ ماحولیاتی تنقید زمین پر مرکوز (earth-centered) مطالعہ ہے، جو زمینی اخلاقیات کے تحفظ پر توجہ مرکوز کرتا ہے۔ اس قسم کے مطالعات کا آغاز امریکہ اور یورپ میں ہوا اور بعد ازاں یہ مختلف خطوں تک پھیل گئے۔ اردو ادب کی دنیا میں، اکیسویں صدی میں ماحولیاتی تنقید پر زیادہ توجہ دی گئی۔ یونیورسٹی کی سطح پر ثقافتی مطالعات (cultural studies) کا ایک اچانک رجحان سامنے آیا جو مسلسل بڑھتا رہا، اور اسی تناظر میں ماحولیاتی تنقید پر مبنی تحقیق کو بھی جگہ ملی۔ اس مطالعے کا مقصد درج ذیل سوالات کا جائزہ لینا ہے: "کیا اردو میں ماحولیاتی تنقید پر ہونے والا کام محض انگریزی سے ترجمہ ہے یا اردو میں کوئی آزادانہ کام بھی موجود ہے؟ اگر یہ نظریہ باہر سے آیا ہے، تو کیا اردو تحریروں میں بھی بیرونی ماحولیاتی تنقیدی نقطہ نظر پیش کیا جا رہا ہے یا ایسے مطالعات میں ہمارے ماحول کو صرف ایک حوالے کے طور پر استعمال کیا جاتا ہے؟ کیا اس قسم کا مکالمہ مقامی ہے یا عالمی؟" اس مضمون میں ایسے سوالات کو مرکزی حیثیت دی گئی ہے۔ مزید برآں، یہ مضمون اکیسویں صدی میں اردو میں ماحولیاتی تنقید پر لکھی گئی کتابوں، رسائل، مضامین، مقالوں اور منعقدہ کانفرنسوں و سیمینارز کا جائزہ لیتا ہے تاکہ یہ تعین کیا جا سکے کہ اب تک اردو میں اس موضوع پر کتنا کام ہوا ہے۔ اس کے علاوہ، ان کاموں کی نوعیت کیا ہے؟ ان کا مقداری (quantitative) اور معیاری (qualitative) تجزیہ بھی اس مضمون کا حصہ ہے۔
Abstract
Eco-criticism is a new form of study. This discourse is the study of the relationship between literature, both classical and modern, and physical natural environment. The studies of eco-criticism also show us how literature contributes to the preservation and survival of the environment. Eco-criticism is an earth-centered study, which focuses on the preservation of the earth ethics. Such types of studies began in America and Europe and later spread to different places. In the world of Urdu literature, more attention was paid to eco criticism in the 21st century. There was a sudden outburst of cultural studies at the university level, which continued to grow, and in this context, eco-criticism research is also found a place. This study aims to explore the following inquiries “Is the work on eco-criticism in Urdu merely a translation from English or is there any independent work in Urdu? If this theory is from outside, then is the eco-criticism perspective from the outside being also shown in Urdu writings or is our environment used only as a reference in such studies? Is this kind of discourse local or global? Such questions are given central status in this article. Moreover, this article discusses books, magazines, articles, essays, conferences and seminars on eco-criticism in Urdu in the 21st century and research to make a reckoning how much work has been done in Urdu regarding eco-criticism so far. Moreover, what is the nature of such works? Their quantitative and qualitative analysis is also part of this article.
